The Emim had been expelled by the people, Deuteronomy ii. 10. Chamos was the peculiar deity of Moab, (Numbers xxi. 29., and Jeremias xlviii. 46.; Calmet) and signifies "as taking away. "It is commonly supposed to be the sun. (Haydock)
