That he may testify unto them how grievously I am tormented for my sinful indulgence, and exhort them to repentance and amendment, lest they also come into this place of torment. You will say that the damned are in utter despair, hating both God and Prayer of Manasseh , cursing everything and every creature, and bearing good will to none—how then could Dives have wished that his brethren might escape the torments of hell?
