He did not stone, but consented to those who stoned, and so would have perished if God's grace and repentance had not come to his aid, because those who act and those who assent are worthy of death.
He dragged them; he did not slay them, because perhaps the Lord restrained his hands so that they should not be stained with the blood of the innocent.
